President of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, IOC member and IAAF Senior Vice-President Sergey Bubka was honoured with the People's Ambassador of Ukraine Order for his great contribution in creation of positive image of his country and strengthening of its international prestige.
The Honorary title the People’s Ambassador of Ukraine and the corresponding Order were awarded to the repeated world champion and the Olympic pole vaulting champion by the All-Ukrainian Fund of International communication encouragement «Ukrainian People's Embassy» («Ukrayinske Narodne Posolstvo»).
«Everything I have done as the athlete, and later as the sports organizer, was devoted to my Motherland – to its prosperity and development of sports, the consolidation of Ukraine’s image as a sports state», Sergey Bubka said on getting the Order from the First President of Ukraine, Honorary Chairman of the Ukrainian People's Embassy Leonid Kravchuk at the solemn decorating ceremony held on December 17th at Mariinsky palace.
Created in 1992, the All-Ukrainian Fund «Ukrainian People's Embassy» contributes significantly to the development of the international cooperation and friendly relations among the people all over the world. The Honorary title the People’s Ambassador of Ukraine and the corresponding Order with a moire tape are among the highest awards given by the Fund to outstanding Ukrainians who assist to the state’s national interests in the sphere of the international dialogue.
