A unique event that has no analogues in the world has started for the fifth time in the capital of Ukraine today.
The festive opening of the Olympic lesson traditionally was held at the central square of the country – Maidan Nezalezhnosti.
Everybody could feel himself not only as a spectator of the sporting event but as a full participant of the Sports World. Organizers of the event – the National Olympic Committee, Ministry of Education and Science, Ministry of Ukraine for Family, Youth and Sports, Kyiv City State Administration and Sports Federations fruitfully worked to make this celebration unforgettable.
Therefore, it is not surprising that the NOC President Sergey Bubka in his address to participants said that the Olympic lesson as well as the Olympic Games bring together people of different age and sex around various sports with Olympic ideals. Moreover, in the opinion of the Chief Olympian of the country, the lesson will attract more young boys and girls to physical training and sports and healthy lifestyle. "We believe that new Olympians will appear among participants of such lessons. We expect some of them in the Ukrainian team at the I Youth Olympic Games in Singapore next year. And then, I believe these young kids will take the highest top of the Olympic podium "- Sergey Bubka said.
The Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Ivan Vasyunyk, the Minister of Ukraine for Family, Youth and Sports Yuriy Pavlenko, the Deputy of chief of Kyiv City State Administration Vitaly Zhuravskyi, the Chief of the Committee for Physical Education and Sports of the Ministry of Education and Science Vyacheslav Gamow, prominent athletes Natalia Dobrynska, Irina Merleni, Vasyl Fedoryshyn, Denys Sylantyev, Ivan Bogdan, Grygoriy Kriss, Valentina Tserbe, Olena Sadovnycha, Olena Lyashenko, Georgiy Zantaraya, Marina Prischepa, Ruslan Ponomaryov, NOC’s athletes Commission members – Oleksander Krykun, Anna Sorokina and many others took part in the celebration. Olena Govorova, Olympic medalist, was anchorwoman of the event.
Within two hours more than 20 universal sports grounds with Olympic champions, medal winners and pupils of the Youth Sports Schools have master classes, demonstrations and training events. Competitions and quizzes were also held.
Unique emotions, meetings with renowned sports figures, introduction with the details and beauty of different sports – this was the Olympic celebration.
Strong Man show became the culmination of the celebration. However, the Olympic lesson did not finish. From now it visit schools of Ukraine. Well known Olympians visit young children – they become their teachers and mentors.
