Visit of Dr Jacques Rogge to Sport Centers

The IOC President Dr Jacques Rogge visited the State Olympic Sport Training Center in Koncha Zaspa and training center of Dynamo (Kiev) Football Club.

At the state training center Dr Rogge had the possibility to visit the gymnasium, weightlifting sport hall, get aware of board and lodging conditions of the athletes. He conversed with the Head Coach of the National Artistic Gymnastics Team Igor Korobchynskyy as well as members of the team. The IOC President asked Mr. Korobchynskyy’s opinion on the new evaluation system implemented in artistic gymnastics and got favourable estimation.

Accompanied by the Dynamo Football Club President Mr. Igor Surkis Dr Rogge visited the football training center where he also saw indoor ring, football fields, medical rehabilitation complex, living premises.

At the end of his visit to Ukraine Dr Jacques Rogge summarized, “I am very pleased of such fruitful visit to Ukraine. Meetings with the President, the Prime Minister and the Chairman of the Parliament of Ukraine assured me that the Olympic Movement in your country has a great support from the state. I had a wonderful opportunity to talk to many Olympians, sports officials and managers. I have got positive impressions of the activity carried out by the National Olympic Committee and I am sincerely proud of my colleagues and friends Sergey Bubka and Valeriy Borzov.”

On 4 October 2006 at 17:20 Dr Jacques Rogge departed to Vienna. Beyond any doubts, his visit to Ukraine became one more historical milestone.
